Our goal for this event is not only to raise funds and awareness for Boston Flow & BikeFrog, but to get our friends OUTSIDE for a day of adventure, wonder, and, of course, FLOW. That’s why we’re offering three amazing workshops with some of Boston’s best movement artists! We want you to try new things – whether it’s the first bike ride you’ve done in years, or the first time you pick up a hoop, we want you to join us. Let’s make new friends and create new memories at one of Massachusetts’ most prized destinations.
Route: Leave from Alewife at 11am, take Minuteman Walking Trail all the way to Walden Pond. Goal is to make it to Walden Pond by 1:00pm (very doable). Bikers will leave Walden around 4pm to try and make it back by 6pm. The route is paved and relatively flat, with a few intermediate hills toward the end. The distance is 15 miles (approx. 1.5 hours), making a total of 30 miles/3 hours of biking there & back. We encourage anyone who is comfortable biking to give this rewarding ride a shot!
We will provide water and light snacks, so please RSVP on this event page so we know how much to bring! Additionally, if you are coming please let us know of any dietary restrictions/allergies so we can be sure to get snacks everyone can enjoy.
IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO BIKE (or don’t have one) – you are more than welcome to drive to Walden Pond and join us when we arrive around 1PM! We are NOT able to provide bicycles, but we will also keep you guys updated with options for affordable rentals.
BikeFrog was created with one goal in mind: inspiring happiness in the lives of people around the world utilizing the power of the bicycle.
BikeFrog began as a simple trail name for an ambitious young man who wanted to see and meet the people of the world. To his elation others wanted to join in the movement and a passionate team formed around him to send him and other team riders on a journey across their country (and for BikeFrog…eventually the world), meeting with like-minded individuals along the way to promote social reform, charitable altruism, and environmental sustainability. In doing so, we raise awareness of the bicycle as a useful and inexpensive tool for community development while creating a network of organizations interested in utilizing it.
Whether one lives in a developing or industrialized, city or nation, available transportation shapes their lifestyle. The value of the bicycle lies in its ability to improve speed and distance in almost any service or industry at a minuscule cost. Whether it be healthcare, commerce, or even just gathering clean water from the nearest source, the humble bicycle provides a simple solution to an ever increasing web of problems around the world.
